African Wild dogs, or Painted Wolves, are one of Africa’s most endangered species. In South Africa the species is listed as Endangered due to ongoing threats and human-wildlife conflict.
The population is estimated to number fewer than 250 mature individuals. Saving the Survivors is passionate about the conservation of this species and we assist programs aimed at ensuring their survival. These wilddogs were translocated to a new reserve to establish a new pack and ensure genetic diversity in the species. Saving the Survivors immobilized, radiographed, sampled and vaccinated these dogs to monitor their health status and to ensure we can follow-up on them after their release onto their new reserve.
