Another tragic case of a White rhino heifer, named Lethabo (approx 6 years old). We found her with a bullet wound below her right elbow.
We took radiographs to diagnose the fracture. After we cleaned and flushed the wound, we administered long-acting anti-inflammatories. We also administered antibiotics, as she has a draining tract from the fracture site.
She is steadily improving and walking almost normally, so it’s unlikely that she will need a follow-up treatment soon. However, the owner will keep Saving the Survivors up-to-date on her progress.
It is heartbreaking to attend cases like this but thankfully we are able to help due to the donations we receive from our followers.
