On examination we found that the wound extends into the underlying nasal sinuses and was severely infected. Treatment, flushing and suturing of the horn are proved to be extremely difficult, as the needles do not penetrate through the thick horn tissue. The cow had to be woken up and Johan had to come back at a later stage with a new and innovative plan. This time he used dental acrylic and screws after flushing and treating the wound. His plan worked very well and after 6 weeks the cow was again immobilised and it was found that the wound had healed completely. Another success story with new and innovative ideas by the STS Team.
